A Novice at Blogging

I decided that since I am a "computer-oriented" person, I would start my own blog. However, bear with me, because I have to learn the art of blogging as I go along.

"This Old House"

I have lived in the house that my mom grew up in for almost 4 years now (will be 4 years at the end of November). The house is 58 years old and needs a lot of work done to it. However, despite all its problems, I enjoy living in it because it is like a piece of family history to me (since my mom grew up in it). I live next door to my dad, where my entire family lived while I was a teenager and as a much younger young adult.

This house has several major features that I enjoy. The built-in shelves on the kitchen walls and the built-in scalloped trim hanging down from the ceiling are my favorite details in the kitchen. The built-in desk and hutch in the den is a major detail that I use extensively, as you can see in the picture. The large picture window in the living room is another one of my favorite features of this house.

My Family

Here is a picture of my family. On the left is me and on the right is my "baby" Munchkin. In this picture, I am 30 years old and Munchkin is over 3.5 years old.

Like all babies that get around, Munchkin gets into everything. She especially likes to play inside bags. In the picture on the right, she is coming out to check out my camera :)

Munchkin likes to sleep on any of the chairs in the living room. In this picture, she is contently laying down in a rocking chair that my mom got for her mom's (Grandma Helen's) birthday a long time ago.

I used to have another "baby" named Happy that I had adopted when he was 1 year old, but unfortunately, he had to go back to the pound where he came from because of his "litter box problem". I had him for over 3 years and faithfully dealt with this problem, but he never would use the thing, and his problem was destroying the hardwood floors. I do miss him dearly, though. It was hard to have to send him back. In order to keep his memory alive, I posted a picture of him, in which he was about 3 years old.
